Monthly Deep Sky Challenge


Some of the objects listed here are impossible to see with the naked eye. They require a good knowledge of the night sky, and a small telescope or a good set of binoculars. Good Luck!!!

 

April 1997

 

1. Find and separate the double star "Castor" (66 Alpha Geminorum)
2. See if you can see "Wesen" (25 Delta Canis Minoris). This is the most distant supergiant star that is visible to the naked eye.
3. Find M93, a 6th magnitude Open Cluster in Puppis.
4. Find M48, a 5th magnitude Open Cluster in Hydra.
5. Find M50, a 6th magnitude Open Cluster in Monoceros.
